5 reasons to have an engagement photoshoot

As part of my wedding packages I always offer a complimentary engagement photoshoot. Here are 5 reasons why I offer them;

1. It’s a great opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera

It’s likely that friends and family have already warned you how quickly your big day will go. You know that you want to capture every moment to treasure but the thought of being centre of attention and being in front of the camera fills you with absolute dread.

Having an engagement shoot gives you both the opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera.

It’s a very relaxed session where you can take time, with no rushing and no one watching, to practice being in front of the camera. You’ll also get the opportunity to ask any questions you might have about how to stand and get the very best out of being in front of the camera.

2. It helps develop a great connection between yourselves and your photographer.

On your wedding day, aside from your new husband, your photographer is the person that you’ll spend most of your time with. Having an engagement session with your wedding photographer, allows you both an opportunity to find out more about each other and build trust before your big day.

Ensuring that on the wedding day you feel totally relaxed and can focus on enjoying the day and having all your most favourite people in one place.

3. It gives you some quality time together before the big day

Your engagement is a really special time for you both. You have both made an amazing decision to share your lives together through thick and thin. It’s a precious time that you get to spend together, just the two of you,   why not capture this precious time so that you can treasure them forever.

Preparations for the big day can get overwhelming and then you throw family in… Your engagement shoot provides you both a well earned time out to stop and enjoy each other, just the two of you before life takes over.  It is a time to remind each other why you love each other and talk about exciting dreams for your future together.

4. You can incorporate your engagement shots into your wedding day.

An engagement shoot will provide lots of opportunities to add some personal touches to your wedding day; from a beautiful signing frame keepsake to prints for family and images to personalise your invites.

5. You can use it as an opportunity to practice at your wedding venue.

Why not have your engagement shoot at the wedding venue. This gives both you and your photographer the opportunity to spend some time together at the venue before the day. You can run through the ceremony details, locations and timings.
